There are still some surprises left
A while back I wrote about novelty, somewhat worried about the collective cynicism of humanity, that perhaps we feel there are no true surprises left. But the scientists aren’t about to run out of work: there are still unanswered questions, everywhere.
Today’s post catalogues things that have surprised me, because they’re bizarre or grotesque, or just because they exist. Things that are disputably edible, practically invisible, or that might better belong in outer space.
