Whelmed

We often hear of people being overwhelmed or underwhelmed, but you can actually also just be whelmed. The Oxford dictionary defines it likes this:

whelm
β€” engulf, submerge, or bury: a swimmer whelmed in a raging storm
β€” [no object] well up or flow: the brook whelmed up from its source

Today’s post is about a lot of things, including a very strange trip to Herbertville and the Super-Kamiokande neutrino detector in Japan (both true stories), but it’s also about getting overwhelmed. Stressed. Worried. Anxious. By too much going on at once.

Oh but to be merely whelmed. Β
